Fracture: Part I

November 5, 2006

When he’s not scolding me, Christian is trying to explain to me how important having an income is. ‘I may be a vampire, but I can’t live off my savings forever.’ Oh, right. Like he does soooo much! I don’t get whyhe has to be on my back all the time. What is he, my father? I’m an adult. I’m quite capable of handling myself. I could easily go out and make something of myself.

And that’s when it hit me. The most brilliant plan ever formulated by a vampire with pink hair. I guess I owe some credit to Christian, too. If he hadn’t been nagging me, I wouldn’t have been ignoring him, and thinking.

Of course, he just kind of looked at me funny when I exclaimed that I was a genius and bounded off. I had to find Quinn!

“Hey Quinn… I know how you could make up completely ignoring me, your best friend, to flirt with my vampy savior.”

She gave me an odd look, probably recognizing my ’scheming’ face. I grinned wide as I explained my plans.

The next night, I decided to show everyone what my big plan had been. Quinn was all for it, having fronted the money. I bought the second floor apartment for rent right beside Christian’s club. It was pretty cheap and in good shape. I figured that if I was going to be a vampire and have all these abilities… I might as well put them to good use! I was going to be a vampire detective… dealing with all things preternatural in an otherwise natural world. Good slogan, eh?

“Is the ceiling leaking?”

Leave it to Christian to rain on my parade. Literally.

“Er, Quinn, you’ll need to hire a repairman tomorrow.”

“Sure thing,” Quinn grinned. “This is gonna be so cool!”

“I can’t believe you’re going along with this…” Christian sighed.

“Oh shut up, Christian,” I hissed, my eyes scanning the room, “Now all we need… is some furniture.”

“Hey! Where are you going?”

“I know exactly where this is going, and therefore, I’m getting the hell out of here. I am not a packmule!”

“Christian!”

Several hours later…

“All right! This place looks awesome!”

“We did it, we did it!” Quinn cheered along with me.

“What are you two cheering about? I did all the work…”
