Fracture: Part III

“H-hullo?” I mumbled sleepily into the receiver, sending a side-long glance at the clock. Wow, 8 o’clock already?
“Beryl, do you still want me to go with you? I’m waiting at the office.” It was Quinn. I had spoken to her last night about maybe going over to Antony’s to finish up this whole spook situation.
“Yeah, give me a few minutes and I’ll be over.”
It had been two days since I had spoken to Christian. I certainly wasn’t going to ask for his help.

“I hope I have something decent to wear…” I yawned absently, wandering through my room. I needed something nice… but not too ‘you’re smoking hot and I’m totally trying to impress you’.
I realized that pretty much everything I own is either black or white. Wow. When did that happen?

Finally deciding on an outfit, I grabbed a quick shower and was out the door. Why the hell did I have to get an office across the damn city? I hated walking here. Sure, I was a vampire and I could easily lay the preternatural smack down on any scummy bugger that would try something… but still. Ugh! The inner-city is so dirty. Good thing I live on the outer edge.

Of course after a horrible trek across the city, the last thing I wanted (or expected, for that matter!) was to see Christian. Why is he always popping up in places I DON’T want him to be? At least he isn’t dressed like the Vampire F.B.I. this time…
